Founder of TeamOnUP, creator of Mission BOSS, and author of Meaning Is the Mission. He built the operating system he wished he had as an operator.
Mike is a 2x entrepreneur who has spent more of his career building companies than running inside them, and he is doing the hardest, most meaningful work of that career right now. He created Mission BOSS to connect member experience with employee experience, align teams around the plan the board approved, and grow profitability that gets reinvested into the credit union’s mission.
The credibility runs deep. He previously served four years as CEO of PSCU, now Velera, and earlier as an operating executive at Fiserv, so he has run a large institution and built from nothing. What carries the work is simpler than any title: curiosity, capability, and a servant’s heart, applied to difficult problems alongside people he respects. He has been working with credit unions on this system since 2019.
He documents the thinking in his 2024 book Meaning Is the Mission and its companion workbook Get Dreams Done on Purpose, and lives just outside Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife Jessica and their three children.
The pressure to merge for scale is not a lack of size, it is a lack of leadership imagination. Credit unions already have the resources they need to succeed, built into the cooperative model. Mission BOSS exists to help leaders turn away from the status quo and toward what Mike calls status grow.
Why “Merge or Die” Is a Lie. Turning the status quo into status grow.
Strong Plan, Weak Execution. Closing the strategy-to-execution gap.
Meaning Is the Mission. Aligning a team around results that matter.
Mike has spent a decade on the Corelation main stage and speaks regularly at industry conferences, leagues, and CEO forums. The talks are not motivation for its own sake. They name the problem that Mission BOSS exists to solve, which is why the conversation so often continues long after the keynote ends.
